Song of the Day: Screaming Lord Sutch – “Wailing Sound”

On this day in 1968, according to thisdayinmusic.com, Screaming Lord Sutch, while on tour of the East Coast of the U.S. in a custom-painted Rolls Royce hearse, played at the Freehold Hullabaloo in Freehold, New Jersey, with an opening band called The Castles, who had a young vocalist by the name of Bruce Springsteen. Sutch might have been the headliner that night, but the careers of those two obviously went in different directions. This track is off Sutch’s debut album Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends and featured playing and production from Jimmy Page. The album featured an all-star cast of Page, Jeff Beck, Nicky Hopkins, and Noel Redding, but it was panned by critics.
