Song of the Day: Chris Cornell – “Sunshower”

Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Chris Cornell, who was found dead on May 18, 2017 after a show in Detroit. This beautiful and soothing song, which was originally a bonus track on the Japanese version of the album Euphoria Morning and part of the soundtrack to the 1998 film Great Expectations, feels fitting for today with lyrics such as “Crawl like ivy up my spine/Through my nerves and into my eyes/Cuts like anguish/Or recollections of better days gone by/But its all right/When you’re caught in pain/And you feel the rain come down/Its all right/When you find your way/Then you see it disappear/Its all right/Though your gardens grey/I know all your graces/Someday will flower/In the sweet sunshower”. Cornell’s widow Vicky announced earlier this week there will be a vigil in Hollywood Cemetery tonight in Chris’s honor. “We want to open this up to you, our extended family, and invite you to join us on this day of prayer and remembrance to pay our respects together,” Vicky wrote in a social media announcement.
