Song of the Day: Jethro Tull – “Cross-Eyed Mary”

Back in December of 2015, Captain Quirk posted-in my opinion-one of the greatest tracks ever written, “Hymn 43.” I was going to post that today so I’m glad that I checked. But, that being said, it was March 19th that marked the 47th birthday of Jethro Tull’s classic Aqualung. This album had so many classics such as the title track, the incredible “Locomotive Breath,” and the above “Cross-Eyed Mary.” Written by Ian Anderson, it is he that said he “Mary” in this song is a good person reacting to bad circumstances. Anderson has pointed out that she is kind of a Robin Hood prostitute. Also, if you didn’t know, the “jack knife barber” is a man who performs abortions-learn something new every day. So, we say happy belated birthday, you sweet prince.
