Song of the Day: Count Five – “Psychotic Reaction”

Here’s a gem from California garage rock band Count Five that peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. The album of the same name, which was the only studio LP from the band, reached No. 122 on the Billboard chart. This song, which was partially influenced by The Yardbirds’ cover of Bo Diddley’s “I’m A Man,” displays early elements of acid rock. It’s found its way into various movies, video games and shows over the past couple of decades, exposing the song to new generations of listeners.
