Song Of The Day: The Stone Roses – “Fools Gold”

Happy Birthday to Ian Brown, lead singer of The Stone Roses, who was born on this day in 1963. The Roses’ 1989 eponymous debut album was arguably one of the most influential records of the past 30 years, combining electric guitars and dance beats in a way that had never been done before. After a decade of synthesized sounds, the electric guitar was poised to make a comeback in the 90s, and The Stone Roses helped lead the way. But they couldn’t sustain the charge. Thanks to bad management, lawsuits and indifference they only came up with one more official album before disbanding, only to make some half-hearted reunion attempts in recent years.
