Smashing Pumpkins Seem To Confirm Reunion Album, Rick Rubin To Produce

Billy Corgan has always been an interesting dude. In quite the surprise, about a week ago, Corgan took to Instagram posting a photo of an IV entering his left arm. The caption for the photo read “Sometimes rock and roll has its costs. But it does occur to me sitting here that my aim is to make peace with my family first, and then spend whatever time I have left here making peace with God.” He later assured fans that he was fine.

But, in more surprise news, according to Alternative Press, Corgan has shared pictures from inside producer Rick Rubin’s studio. Along with those pictures, original Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has also shared his own photos of Rubin’s studio. And, it seems that original guitarist James Iha was recording with Corgan about two weeks ago.

Now this begs the question, what about original bassist D’arcy Wretzky? She announced recently, “My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band,” she says. “I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me].” Wretzky adds that she “only just found [out] yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”
