Song of the Day: Stevie Ray Vaughan – “The Sky Is Crying”

Today marks the birthday of blues legend Elmore James, who was born in Mississippi on this day one hundred years ago. James’s music has influenced and been covered by many rock acts over the years, with song being one of the most famous. James wrote this song back in 1959; the original recording is still very powerful all these years later, and thankfully Stevie Ray Vaughan stayed faithful to it on this legendary cover. Vaughan obviously hit a grand slam with this cover, which was released as part of the posthumous 1991 collection of the same name.
