Song of the Day: The Verve – “She’s a Superstar”

Here’s an atmospheric track from the early shoegaze days of The Verve and one of my favorites from the band. Off their 1992 Verve EP, this was the second single The Verve released in the UK. The song was recorded in a swimming pool during a session that, per Wikipedia, involved a lot of smoking and acid. However they did it, the vibe of this song came out very cool. This is the shortened version of the song accompanied by a video with a young Richard Ashcroft that looks very much like a young Mick Jagger. There’s also a 9-minute version (with better sound quality) that you can check out here. Kick your feet up and vibe out.
