Rush Has More Or Less Called It Quits, Alex Lifeson says: “We’re Basically Done”

According to The Globe And Mail, Rush, after a 41-year history, is bringing the band to a close.

The site quotes Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson as saying, “It’s been a little over two years since Rush last toured. We have no plans to tour or record any more. We’re basically done. After 41 years, we felt it was enough.”

Me personally, I think it was time. Rush is a talented group of individuals that have given us so much fantastic music during their time as a band. Plus, look on the bright side — the article goes on to say that Lifeson “actually been busier lately.” In the interview Lifeson says, “I’m writing a lot. I’m writing on four or five different little projects. I get these requests to do guitar work with other people. It’s really a lot of fun for me. It’s low pressure: I get to be as creative as I want to be and I can work a little outside of the box, which is really attractive to me.”

The article also continues on to say that Lifeson is writing for new monthly Toronto paper, West End Phoenix. So it seems life after Rush is quite pleasurable and a happy Alex Lifeson make me happy too.
