Glenn Frey’s widow files wrongful death lawsuit

Glenn Frey’s widow Cindy filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of her late husband in a Manhattan court Tuesday, according to a report published by Reuters.

The suit accuses Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and gastroenterologist Steven Itzkowitz of negligence, specifically claiming that Itzkowitz and the hospital did not properly treat Frey’s condition or correctly diagnose and treat infection, as well as failing to warn of the risks from treatment.

Frey had been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis since 2000, which along with colitis and pneumonia was announced as the cause of his death on January 18, 2016. Shortly after Frey’s death in 2016, Eagles manager Irving Azoff said Frey’s pneumonia and colitis came as a result of the medication he was taking for his arthritis.

Per Reuters, the lawsuit alleges Frey was left “sick, sore, lame and disabled” as a result of his treatment and that he dealt with pain and mental anguish before his death.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages be awarded for Cindy Frey. No comment was given from Mount Sinai Hospital on the matter.
