Song Of The Day: John Lennon – “Remember” (1970)

On this day in 1970 John Lennon and Yoko Ono released The Plastic Ono Band album, a groundbreaking record that didn’t sound like anything else at the time, and doesn’t sound like anything else recorded ever since. The spare but punchy production, the raw humanity of the vocals and the lyrics, including the primal screaming, the range of emotion — this was the kind of creative leap that we could only have expected from a former Beatle. Add to that a couple of musician’s musicians as sidemen — Ringo Starr on drums and Klaus Voorman on bass — and it adds up to one of the greatest and most important records ever made.
