See Josh Homme’s apology for kicking female photographer during concert

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme made headlines of the wrong kind over the weekend when he kicked photographer Chelsea Lauren in the face during a performance in Inglewood, California Saturday night, and since then he issued an emotional apology that was posted to the band’s Twitter account.

Video of the incident, which Lauren posted to her Instagram account, can be seen below:

Thanks to Josh Homme @queensofthestoneage I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!? #joshhomme #queensofthestoneage #qotsa #qotsafamily #concertphotography #musicphotographer

Lauren provided an update on her health the following day.

“My neck is sore, my eyebrow bruised and I’m a bit nauseous,” Lauren wrote. “The doctor released me early in the morning.”

It was one of multiple bizarre moments for Homme Saturday night, who according to Pitchfork also cut himself in the head with a knife, yelled “Fuck Muse” in reference to the band slated to take the stage after Queens of the Stone Age, and also called the crowd “retards”.

Here’s a look at the apology Homme posted online overnight.

“I’d just like to apologize to Chelsea Lauren,” Homme said. “I don’t have any excuse or reason to justify what I did. I was a total dick and I’m truly sorry and I hope you’re okay. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and last night was definitely one of them, and I apologize for that to you. I want to be a good man, but I think last night I definitely failed at that. That means I failed my family and my friends as well. I don’t want them to ever be ashamed or embarrassed about being around me or knowing me, so I apologize also to my bandmates and my mom and my dad, my wife and my brother and my kids.

“Yeah, I’m going to have to figure out some stuff I think, ’cause rock n’ roll is a wonderful thing. It’s supposed to save and help people, not mess them up. So Chelsea Lauren, I hope you’re okay and I’m truly sorry. I understand you have to do whatever you have to do. I just want you to know that I’m sorry. Goodnight, Godspeed”
