Director Bryan Singer fired from Queen biopic

The Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is on hold after director Bryan Singer was fired from the movie this week.

Per Hollywood Reporter, Singer’s dismissal stems from his absences from the set, which resulted in a dispute between him and actor Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury in the film.

The dispute, Hollywood Reporter says, did not get physical but did get heated and resulted in Singer throwing an object. Singer had been warned by Fox Film prior to production to avoid unprofessional behavior, and after going missing for over a week following Thanksgiving, the decision was made to fire him from the film.

The film, which was scheduled for release on December 25, 2018, had two weeks of principal photography remaining before Singer was fired. A new director is expected to be named within a couple of weeks.
