Dogfish Head has always been innovative with its musical beer collaborations. Artists who have participated include Miles Davis, Grateful Dead, Guided By Voices, Pearl Jam, and now that family includes The Flaming Lips.

The Lips, no strangers to the alcohol world having released their own whiskey in 2016, are now ready to join the beer world. The press release by Dogfish Head said: “Keeping in line with their decades-long tradition of banding together with the uniquely epic and imaginative, the brewery teamed up with the longtime musical wizards in what they believe is their most off-centered and extraordinary beer alliance to date.

“Keeping in line with their decades-long tradition of banding together with the uniquely epic and imaginative, the brewery teamed up with the longtime musical wizards in what they believe is their most off-centered and extraordinary beer alliance to date. Releasing in spring, Dragons & YumYums will be a lip-smackingly tart pale ale clocking in at 6.5% ABV. This intensely tropical yet subtlety bitter ale is brewed with a combination of dragonfruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot juice providing an explosion of fruit in every sip.”

You can expect to find the collaboration hitting shelves in spring of 2018.
