Song Of The Day: George Harrison – “Let It Down” (1970)

On this day in 1970 George Harrison released All Things Must Pass, his three-disc masterpiece that many commentators have called the best solo album any ex-Beatle ever made. I would agree with them. Harrison had written arguably the two best songs on the Beatles’ final album – “Something” and “Here Comes The Sun” – and All Things Must Pass simply confirmed that he had just about reached the level of excellence held by his former bandmates. Indeed, many of the songs on the album had originally been rejected by his former partners, which amounted to the biggest reason why The Beatles could no longer carry on together: There was no longer enough room for these three massive songwriting talents.
