Song Of The Day: Leon Russell – “Tight Rope” (1972)

One year ago today we lost Leon Russell, a Rock pioneer who was on the scene in the earliest days of Rock & Roll, and who would later help shape the Rock Revolution of the late Sixties. His idiosyncratic singing style opened the door for the many idiosyncratic singers who would follow, and his complex but always soulful songwriting was a big influence on Elton John and many other complex, soulful songwriters. We urge any Leon Russell fans to take a look at the tribute we posted last year, 10 Great Leon Russell Moments. One moment that didn’t quite make the list was this unusual, offbeat hit from his brilliant album Carney.
