Jack White provided of an update on his upcoming album in a recent piece in Interview Magazine, at least to some extent.

White was interviewing actor Gary Oldman for Interview, when he provided Oldman an update on what he’s been up to. The update included a tidbit or two about the recording process White has been engaging in, as well as what the product sounds like.

“I’ve been recording in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville,” said White. “I’ve never recorded in New York or L.A. before. I tried to go to some new places and meet musicians I’ve never met before, and see if I could get to a new place. I’m getting somewhere. I’ll send you something. It’s good gardening music or roofing music or, you know, back-alley stabbing music. [Oldman laughs] I’m trying to think of some good activities that people haven’t written songs for yet.”

Hmm. Back-alley stabbing music, gardening music, and roofing music seems like it would be a wide range. But White at least provides info on where he’s been recording, and that he’s “getting somewhere.”

The album, whenever it arrives, will be White’s first solo studio album since 2014’s Lazaretto, and will be highly anticipated.
