Song Of The Day: Fleetwood Mac – “Black Magic Woman” (1968)

Happy Birthday to Peter Green, who believe it or not is alive and well and turning 71 today, pretty remarkable when you consider he was afflicted with severe addiction and mental health issues for most of the 1970s and 1980s. A graduate of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, like Eric Clapton and Mick Taylor were, Green became a founding member of Fleetwood Mac along with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie in 1968. Green was a great vocalist, songwriter, and was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the finest guitarists of his generation. His great songwriting, singing, and playing is on display for all to hear in this song that would become a huge hit for Santana a couple of years later.
