Song of the Day: Montrose – “Bad Motor Scooter”

Today marks the birthday of star producer Ted Templeman, who turns 73 years old today. Templeman has produced work from Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, Cheap Trick, Van Morrison, and Carly Simon, among others, with some of his earlier work coming with the Sammy Hagar-fronted band Montrose. This one is off the band’s 1973 self-titled album and one of the favorites from the band; if you haven’t heard the song, you’ll immediately pick up on the engine-revving intro, which was borrowed later by Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart.” Good stuff here, and easy to tell why people view this band as being ahead of its time.
