My Bloody Valentine’s last album mbv was one of the most anticipated albums ever in production. I could equate it to the Chinese Democracy of the shoegaze genre.

Well, it seems sooner rather then later that Kevin Shields and Co. will return to us. First, My Bloody Valentine has announced new vinyl reissues of their first two albums, Isn’t Anything and Loveless. The “all analog vinyl versions” have been mentioned in interviews since 2013, but the official announcement comes with word that the 180 gram repressings will be “mastered from analog tapes using Studer A80 VU PRE and Neumann VMS 80 cutting lathe for full analog signal path.” Those reissues can be preordered here. It seems they’re slated to hit at the beginning of next year.

Another exciting thing of note — according to Shields’ bio on the website for Sigur Rós’ Norður og Niður festival in Iceland, Shields is “working on material for a new my bloody valentine album to be released in 2018.” While it hasn’t been confirmed officially by the band new merch has surfaced on their website in the form of a tee shirt that reads “mbv fuzz.” As we learn more, expect to find it here.
