Song Of The Day: Rolling Stones – “Saint Of Me” (1997)

20 years ago today the Rolling Stones released their 23rd studio album Bridges To Babylon. The album contained this song which I consider to be one of the best Rolling Stones tracks of all time. It’s like a renewal of the Stones’ mission statement, placing their bad-boy persona within the context of some of the great hedonists in history. And although Keith Richards didn’t play on the track, they had some all-star assistance from Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Me’Shell Ndegeocello on bass, one-time Beach Boy Blondie Chaplin on vocals and Billy Preston on keys. Throw in Charlie Watts’ typically explosive precision and you end up with some incendiary Rock brilliance.
