Song of the Day: Led Zeppelin – “When The Levee Breaks”

Today marks the 37th anniversary of the death of John Bonham, who passed away on this day in 1980 at age 32 hours after choking on his own vomit following a long drinking binge. There quite simply aren’t many, if any, Zeppelin songs to better represent Bonham than this one, which features the full muscle of Led Zeppelin at their best. It’s Bonham’s pulverizing drumming, starting with the iconic opening beat, that drives the song.
