Song Of The Day: Led Zeppelin – “Fool In The Rain” (1979)

On this day in 1979, In Through The Out Door began a seven-week run at the top of the Billboard album charts in what was to be Led Zeppelin’s big time swan song. Notwithstanding John Bonham’s sad and untimely death in 1980, In Through The Out Door provided a glimpse of a band in transition, and hinted at the wonderful new directions they might have travelled had he lived. As it was, both Bonham and Jimmy Page were fighting drug addictions during the recording of this album, so the bulk of the writing and recording was left to Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, and they came up with brilliant stuff like this.
