Country legend Glen Campbell passes away at age 81

Glen Campbell has lost his long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, passing away on Tuesday morning at age 81, TMZ reports.

Campbell announced in June 2011 he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s six months earlier. Campbell went on a farewell tour following the announcement, after which he went into the studio to begin work on his final album Adios, which was released earlier in 2017.

Campbell had a very distinguished music career, selling over 45 million albums and winning multiple Grammy Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards. Campbell also appeared in 12 films and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2014 for the song “I’m Not Gonna Miss You”, which was part of the film Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me. Campbell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Campbell is survived by his wife Kim and his eight children.
