Song of the Day: Def Leppard – “Women”

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Def Leppard’s gigantic smash album Hysteria, which was released on this day in 1987. I gotta be honest, even though I had a copy and was into this type of music at the time, I never really was too big on this album — might have had something to do with the overplayed factor given how often its seven hit singles (!) were heard on the radio and MTV, or maybe it swung too far into the realm of pop rock. But I felt the need to give it some time in the spotlight today. At 20 million copies sold it stands as one of the most popular rock albums of the 1980s. This is one of the album’s seven singles and the first track on the record, although it only went to number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100.
