Steve Perry reportedly to attend Rock Hall ceremony for Journey induction

Steve Perry will apparently be joining Journey when they get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 7, although it looks like he won’t be performing with his former bandmates.

In speaking with the Dayton Daily News, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain revealed the news that Perry planned on showing up for the ceremony. Current frontman Arnel Pineda is expected to be the one performing with the band.

“The ceremony is the first time we’re going to get to see Steve Perry in a long time, so that’ll be fun,” Cain said. “As far as we know he’s just going to accept the award and then skedaddle. That’s all I know, unless something changes. Arnel is going to represent very well, like he always does.”

Perry was Journey’s frontman during its most successful era from 1977 to 1987, then reunited again with the band in the mid-90s before parting ways with the band in 1998. Perry by and large left the spotlight for the better part of two decades before resurfacing in 2014, so seeing him together with his former band in any capacity should be one of the highlights of this year’s ceremony.
