Sammy Hagar says he wants to tour with Van Halen, David Lee Roth

Sammy Hagar said last week he hopes to hit the road with Van Halen one more time, and that he’d like to alternate frontman duties with David Lee Roth in the process.

In speaking at South by Southwest on Thursday, Hagar said it would be a “dream come true” for fans for he and Roth to perform with the band and that he thinks the “fans would die and go to heaven” at the prospect of a show with both singers.

Hagar said the idea would be to alternate songs between himself and Roth, and that he’d bring bassist Michael Anthony along as well.

“The competition for that would be great,” Hagar said, per USA TODAY. “He’d (play) ‘Panama’ and ‘Runnin’ With the Devil’ and I’ll be going, ‘Damn, I gotta step it up.’ I’m up for it.”

Hagar admitted, however, he’d have to make good with Eddie Van Halen. The two have feuded in the past but Hagar first showed interest in healing those wounds in 2016 when he said he didn’t want to “take any enemies with him to his grave.”

“We were friends up until the end. For nine years, Eddie (Van Halen) and I were neighbors and writers together, best friends,” Hagar said, per USA TODAY. “I don’t know if we can ever get along again because it got so bad.”

What do you think? Is this something you’d want to see?
