Eagles, Fleetwood Mac reported to be headlining summer festival

Per reports from Billboard and Rolling Stone, the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac will be headlining acts this summer for the Classic East and Classic West fests, which will take place in Citi Field in New York and Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles in July.

The events are in their first year, and Rolling Stone says the hope among organizers is it will become an annual franchise. Each event will take place over two days.

Per Billboard, the shows are the only ones Fleetwood Mac has scheduled for this year. The news concerning the Eagles is particularly interesting, given Don Henley’s insistence last year that the band was finished following the 2016 death of founding member Glenn Frey. Henley was elaborating on previous quotes he made that the band might consider playing again if Frey’s son Deacon was involved.

“I don’t see how we could go out and play without the guy who started the band,” Henley was quoted as saying by the Washington Post. “It would just seem like greed or something. It would seem like a desperate thing.”

As of Thursday afternoon, neither band had commented on the reports.
