Anthrax Now Coming Through A Tap?

It’s true: Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, Joey Belladonna, and Jonathan Donais, also know as Anthrax, will have their own beer.

According to a press release: “Chuck Williamson, founder of upstate New York’s Butternuts Beer & Ale will be firing up Automatic Canning System for metal legends Anthrax. Wardance will be available in stores, bars and restaurants where craft beer is sold in New York State beginning March 27. Plans are in the works to expand the distribution to other states around the country.”

Said Anthrax’s Scott Ian: “I’ve wanted to do our own beer for a long time, it was just finding the right guy to make that a reality. I am a fan of Butternuts, especially their Porkslap Pale Ale, and when I found out that Chuck was interested in doing a beer with us, I immediately said yes.” Talking further on the collaboration Ian said, “I spoke to Chuck about what we like and don’t like and what I would want from our beer. It was simple: a beer that would be very drinkable yet still have flavor.”

Wardance, will be a 5.5% ABV ale brewed with New York-grown and North American two-row malt and a mix of specialty malts for extra color and flavor depth. The beer’s hops are sourced from both New York and West Coast growers and are added in several stages, including post fermentation. “Wardance,” Ian says, “is a beer you can drink over and over again. And I have!”

In addition to the beer you can also catch Anthrax on the road beginning March 29th. Killswitch Engage will be co-headlining and The Devil Wears Prada will open. Those dates can be seen below
