Song of the Day: Janis Joplin – “Cry Baby”



On this day in 1971, Janis Joplin’s posthumous album Pearl began a five-week reign atop the Billboard album charts, just a few months after her October 4, 1970 passing. Janis recorded this track, a cover of the 1963 release by Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters, not long before her death in September and October of 1970. There are quite a few songs on Pearl that display well the muscle of the mighty Janis, but none more than this one.
