Watch Leonard Cohen’s stirring new video

A new video for the track “Traveling Light” off Leonard Cohen’s final album You Want It Darker was released on Thursday, featuring a collection of footage from throughout Cohen’s life accompanied by the lyrics to the song.

The opening of the video is particularly stirring as Cohen sits on a porch discussing his health. “I feel a lot stronger, but I’m actually a lot weaker,” Cohen says.

The rest of the video is a montage of video of Cohen throughout the years, concluding with footage of Cohen walking away from the camera before taking one last look back. Per Rolling Stone, the video was made by Cohen’s song Adam along with You Want It Darker creative collaborator Sammy Slabbinck.

  1. It’s a beautiful and very moving video, but I can’t help but think that this is now the new standard, to make a farewell song and video before you die.
