Listen to Bruce Springsteen’s previously unreleased Harry Potter song

It’s been known for a few months now Bruce Springsteen once created a song for the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, but the song wasn’t used in the film. Now you can hear the song, which hit the Internet on Friday.

The song, “I’ll Stand By You Always,” can be heard below (update 2/15/17: the song appears to have been taken down from SoundCloud. We’ll update this story if it surfaces again):

Per Rolling Stone, Springsteen told the BBC the song is “very uncharacteristic” of him but that he’d like to see it land in a movie someday.

“At some point I’d like to get it into a children’s movie of some sort,” Springsteen said. “It was a pretty lovely song.”

It’s hard to say where the song might have fit in in the movie — maybe over the closing credits. Nonetheless, it’s good to see it reach the day.
