Eric Clapton documentary in the works

A documentary on the life of Eric Clapton is on the way, per a report from Variety on Friday.

The film, entitled Eric Clapton: A Life in 12 Bars will be directed by Lili Fini Zanuck, who directed the movie Rush (1991) and produced films such as Driving Miss Daisy, Wild Bill and Mulholland Falls.

The film will chronicle Clapton’s childhood and career, including the death of his son in 1991. The film’s producer, John Battsek, says they have been given access to a wide variety of material to make the film.

“We have unique access to Clapton’s extensive personal archive of classic performance clips, on- and off-stage footage, iconic photos, concert posters, handwritten letters, drawings and personal diary entries — elements with the power to transport audiences to each era, from obsessive student, to peer, to transcendent figure in musical history and one of the greatest guitarists of all time,” Battsek said.
