“Pulverized” Billy Joel recalls hearing Led Zeppelin for the first time

Sirius XM just published a great video on Billy Joel recounting the first time he put the needle down on a Led Zeppelin album.

“Led Zeppelin’s first album came out in 1969, and I got the Led Zeppelin album. It just pulverized me when I heard this,” he says. “It was like hearing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony for the first time.”

“(They’re) probably my favorite band from that whole era from 1969 to the mid-70s. … Actually, when we do a sound check at one of my shows, we don’t really play my stuff, we play Led Zeppelin.”
