Rick Wakeman says he won’t be attending Yes Rock Hall induction

rickwakemanIt’s yet to be seen which members or former members of Yes show up when the band gets inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, but keyboardist Rick Wakeman won’t be one of them.

Wakeman made a statement on his web site recently saying he has no plans to attend.

“I have no idea if there will be any sort of reunion, but whatever happens under no circumstances will I be any part of it, neither will I be attending,” Wakeman said.

Wakeman also expressed disappointment over the timing of the induction, saying he would have been happier if it would happened when bassist Chris Squire was still alive. Squire passed away in 2015 after a battle with leukemia.

“Well I would have been if it had happened years ago when it was really well deserved,” Wakeman said. “I find it hard to come to terms with the fact that so many bands are inducted into the Hall of Fame too late in their careers after key members have passed away. Classic examples are The Who and John Entwhistle, Deep Purple and Jon Lord and now YES and there will be no Chris Squire.”
