Song of the Day: Paul Butterfield Blues Band – “Get Out My Life, Woman”

Today marks what would have been the 74th birthday of Paul Butterfield, who passed away in 1987 of an accidental drug overdose. This track is from the band’s terrific second album, 1966’s East-West, and is a cover of an Allen Toussaint song that has been covered well on multiple occasions, one being this one, another being the funky Lee Dorsey version. What I might like most about this is the piano performance by Mark Naftalin, although by and large it’s just a great track.
