Song of the Day: The Moody Blues – “Nights in White Satin”

On this day in 1972, this song hit No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It was one of three times the song reached the charts somewhere in the world — first in 1967, when it charted in eight countries, including the U.K., France, and Canada, then again in 1972, when it charted again in Canada and the U.K. while reaching the top 10 in Australia and the U.S., then in 1979 in the U.K. It was the highest charting song for The Moody Blues in the U.S.
