Nobel panel hasn’t heard from Bob Dylan

bobdylanThe Swedish Academy has stopped trying to contact Bob Dylan after awarding him with the Nobel prize in literature last week.

Dylan, of course, has been busy playing live shows as of late, including the Desert Trip festival in Indio, California. But while Swedish Academy secretary Sara Danius has been able to share friendly contact with close associates of Dylan, she has not been able to get in contact with Dylan directly, The Guardian reports.

Danius still thinks Dylan will attend the December 10 ceremony in Stockholm when Nobel winners are given their awards.

“I am not at all worried,” said Danius. “I think he will show up.”

Consequence of Sound predicted last week that Dylan would “inevitably use the prize as a bookend.” Time will tell if the award proves to mean more than that to Dylan, but the show will go on without him, Danius says.

“If he doesn’t want to come, he won’t come,” Danius said. “It will be a big party in any case and the honor belongs to him.”
