Song of the Day: Creedence Clearwater Revival: “Born on the Bayou”

On this day in 1972, Creedence Clearwater Revival called it quits. I said the other day that I would bring more CCR to Song of the Day in the future to make up for never having them on there, so this is a good opportunity. Drummer Doug Clifford once called this his favorite song by the band, and it’s easy to see why because it is for my money CCR’s most badass rocker for sure. It’s a work of fiction, a portrayal of childhood on the Bayou even though writer John Fogerty never lived there. That little detail didn’t stop Fogerty from hitting a home run with this one in the end.
