Song of the Day: T. Rex – “20th Century Boy”

On this day in 1977, the world lost T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan, who died in a car accident at age 29. This 1973 song, written by Bolan, is definitely one of the band’s classics — one that still sounds fresh and rocks just as hard 43 years later. Released as a standalone single in March of 1973, the song hit No. 3 on the U.K. charts, then re-emerged in 1991 when it was used in a Levi’s commercial. The song has been covered by numerous major artists, including R.E.M., Def Leppard, Ty Segall, and The Replacements.
