Song of the Day: Bruce Springsteen – “You’re Missing”

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, an event for which the pictures and memories will never go away for those who experienced it. Music played its part in the aftermath of the event as certain songs were widely played to help calm those trying to deal with the event. It wasn’t until July of 2002 when Bruce Springsteen released his 9/11-influenced The Rising album — almost a year after the event, but what happened was still fresh in everyone’s minds. The Rising featured multiple songs that addressed the still-delicate issue that was 9/11, including this one, which dates back to 1994 but was re-written after 9/11. The song, which is about a family coping with the loss of their father, was a perfect fit for the album in tone and in subject matter.
