Song of the Day: The Who – “The Rock”

Today marks the birthday of late great Who drummer Keith Moon, who would have been 70 years old today. There are obviously so many examples of Moon’s amazing drumming, and here’s one I like off the Quadrophenia album. The penultimate song on the album, this six-and-a-half epic instrumental is a terrific listen and a good showpiece for the band’s instrumental talents in general, but Moon shines the brightest. Moon’s birthday also brought The Who one of their more infamous moments as during his 21st birthday party in 1967, Moon drove a Lincoln Continental into a pool at a Flint, Michigan Holiday Inn, which resulted in the band receiving a lifetime ban from the hotel chain.
