Happy birthday wishes go out to U2 guitarist The Edge, who turns 55 today. This song is a rare turn as a vocalist for The Edge, who wrote the song in tribute to John Boyle O’Reilly, a leader of an Irish uprising in 1848 following the Great Famine. The song appears on the Rattle & Hum album. Perhaps a more well-known vocal performance from The Edge was his spoken word vocals on the song “Numb,” but I prefer this song to “Numb,” outside of that song’s entertaining video.
