Song of the Day: The Doors – “When the Music’s Over”

This day marks the 45th anniversary of the death of Doors frontman Jim Morrison, who died July 3, 1971 in an apartment bathtub in Paris. The cause of death was listed as heart failure, but no autopsy was performed, which led to many different theories and conspiracies surrounding his death that have circulated over the years, including one that he faked his death. Morrison would be 73 years old if he had survived to this day, although his destiny seemed to burn brightly and then fade away. Based on this quote attributed to him, he knew it — “I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps “Oh look at that!” Then- whoosh, and I’m gone…and they’ll never see anything like it ever again… and they won’t be able to forget me- ever.” This song is one that presents a vintage Doors experience — epic, eerie, and trippy.
