Steven Tyler says Aerosmith to have farewell tour in 2017

aerosmithIt sounds like 2017 could mark the end of Aerosmith, at least from a touring perspective.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler said on the Howard Stern Show Tuesday that the band would have a farewell tour next year.

“I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this … We’re doing a farewell tour, but only because it’s time. We’ve never done that,” Tyler said, per Rolling Stone.

When asked by Stern to confirm, Tyler said “I think so, next year.”

The news comes as little surprise, given the fact that both Tyler and Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford have previously discussed the possibility of a farewell tour.

Aerosmith has been active since 1970 and has been on tour at one point in all but seven of those years, including 2016. But with Steven Tyler entering into country music and the band members in their mid-to-late 60s, the time could be right for the band to say farewell.
