Happy birthday to the one and only Paul McCartney, who turns 74 years old today. And is there any other song that could possibly be chosen for this day? The song was made up on the spot during a recording session on September 18, 1968. John Lennon didn’t seem to be a big fan of the song, saying in a 1980 Playboy interview, “I think Paul wanted to write a song like ‘Happy Birthday Baby’, the old fifties hit. But it was sort of made up in the studio. It was a piece of garbage.” In any event, happy birthday Paul, and let’s hope for many more.
