Anthony Kiedis Hospitalized, Red Hot Chili Peppers Cancel Gig

It looks like everything is going to be ok, but good vibes to Anthony Kiedis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were forced to cancel their headlining slot on May 14th at this years annual KROQ Weenie Roast. You can see a video below of Flea and the remaining Chili’s taking the stage to make the announcement.

The singer was at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater when he began experiencing “extreme stomach pain,” a KROQ rep told Billboard. Kiedis was then transported from the venue to a nearby hospital.

Drummer Chad Smith later tweeted, “NO one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.” Weezer was able to play an extended set to help close out the show.

Other artists that appeared at the Weenie Roast included Panic! at the Disco, Empire of the Sun, Garbage, Lumineers, Fitz and the Tantrums. Mike Snow and Blink 182 also showed up to play a surprise set.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are scheduled to play their next show May 17th, at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, Ca. They released their new single ‘Dark Necessities‘ which will release with their new album The Getaway on June 17th. Their first since 2011’s I’m With You
