Song of the Day: Led Zeppelin – “Travelling Riverside Blues”

Today marks the birthday (May 8, 1911) of legendary bluesman Robert Johnson, who carried an enormous influence and impact on rock music. Several bands paid tribute to Johnson over the years, with one of the most famous being Led Zeppelin’s cover of “Travelling Riverside Blues.” Zeppelin’s version is radically different than Johnson’s and is more of an intertwining of three Johnson songs than a straight cover. First performed by Zeppelin in 1969, the song was released with the Led Zeppelin boxed set in 1990.
