Prince dead at 57

princeMusic icon Prince has died at age 57, according to a report from TMZ.

The report states Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park complex on Thursday morning. The Associated Press reportedly confirmed the death through Prince’s publicist.

Per the police report released Thursday afternoon, Prince was found dead in an elevator.

“When deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator,” the report says. “First responders attempted to provide lifesaving CPR, but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07 a.m.”

Prince was having medical issues last week as a plane he was traveling on had to make an emergency landing on April 15 due to an illness he was battling, which was later reported to be the flu. Per TMZ, Prince appeared at a dance party the next day and assured people he was fine.

Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prince released 39 albums during his career, four of them coming over the last 18 months, and wrote and produced a wide body of work beyond that. Prince sold over 100 million records, won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
