Song of the Day: The Grateful Dead – “I Know You Rider”

On this day in 1996, half of the ashes of Jerry Garcia were spread into the Ganges River in India by fellow Grateful Dead member Bob Weir and wife Deborah Koons. The other half were spread into the San Francisco Bay. This song, a cover of a traditional blues song, was a live staple of The Grateful Dead, and contains a very appropriate lyric concerning Garcia — “Gonna miss me when I’m gone.”
